The recording was engineered by Mark Wessel, with assistance from Will Wells and Allison Waters. Recorded and mixed with Digital Performer 7, Mastered with Izotope Ozone 4 (amazing!).

The Sea Sides - a download-only album

This album, The Sea Sides, consists of 20 additional tracks from the same session as the Underwater Airport CD, which can be found on CD Baby as well as on iTunes and other fine digital distributors. After assembling the initial 14 tracks for the CD, we went back into the over 6 hours of recordings, and pulled out these tracks, with which we are well pleased... We hope you enjoy them too...

Rivers and Skies CD
Before starting Underwater Airport, Ed and Jim released this CD with guitarist Jim Buhrendorf in December of 2005. Rivers and Skies also performed under the names "Whistle Bone" and "Dust Devils" with Russell Lane on drums.

- Rivers and Skies
The CD and the band are both named “Rivers And Skies”. The CD has 18 tracks, totaling over 66 minutes long. We describe the music as “pastoral electronica” - an ambient, dreamy, instrumental journey into a calm, alert, gently mind-expanded space that flows like, well, rivers and skies. It's perfect for deep listening, or for creating an atmosphere for reading, writing, painting, conversation, sipping tea, laying on the floor, or anything else that suits you... Rivers And Skies are: Jim Whisenant - Chapman Stick, electric cello, programming and processing; Jim Buhrendorf - electric, acoustic, slide, lap steel and 12-string guitars; and Ed Blomquist - electric bass and guitar, synth, winds, programming and processing. Blending stringed instruments with computer-based digital signal processing results in a mix of the best of both analog and digital soundworlds. The design of the CD cover, with beautiful moody photos from Canada and Finland, complements the vibe of the music perfectly. One listener said: "I think Rivers and Skies sounds amazing; it's beautiful and relaxing, but it also has that much-desired "aliens landing" feel to it. I've only listened to it twice but it's already in the rotation with Eno's On Land, The Pearl, Harold Budd + John Foxx's Drift Music, etc... " Another said "it's provided a soothing effect against all the holiday related stress for me lately..."

Nulmatica - Knot Possum - Rarities 2003-2004
Ed and Jim have a side project called "Nulmatica"...
It's a made-up word, but we think it means "machines of emptiness" or something like that...
It's also a place for us to let our really weird out...
At any rate, this digital-only album is available through Nimbit, which for some reason doesn't allow us to post a widget here. But we can link to it, so here you go...
